Dear Member:
Happy New Year to all our members and friends of the Thai American community in Florida. We wish you and your family to have a New Year of happiness, healthy and prosperity.

Last year, TAA organized three successful events.
There were:
1) The Asian Culture Festival chaired by Khanya Moolsiri. It was well organized, had excellent entertainment, good turn out, there were about 10,000 people who came to the festival

2) The Songkran Night was chaired by Supunnee Sukarom (Daeng) of Tub Tim Restaurant, Vanida Intarasura (Tukta) of Too Bazaar Café and Nitaya Williamson (Nid) of King & I Restaurant. People who came to the festival had a lot of fun got to listen and saw in person two professtional singers from Thailand “Khun Kai -Punnipha” and “Khun Sorachai Rungsirichai” and

3) The Loy Krathong Night which was chaired by Preeya Sirna. At the Loy Krathong Chdawan Von Sinner of Suriya Comprehensive Thai Spa organized a Thai Native Costume Fashion Show of 30 models in Thai outfits. I would like to thank all the chairpersons, committees and volunteers again for all the hard work they have done in helping the community to keep our culture alive and help raise fund for Wat Buddharangsi of Miami.

The Thai-American Association of South Florida (TAA) had its annual general meeting at Wat Buddharangsi on December 3, 2006. There was an election of six board of directors for the term 2007 to 2009. They are Prasit Horakunwetchana, Khanya Moolsiri, Suttinee NaNakornpanom, Preeya Sirna, Chdawan Von Sinner and Dr. Yuwadee Wongbundhit. They will join the other existing twelve board of directors of the Thai-American Association. There are Panya Amporn, Dr. Phaisit Chewputtanagul, Verapong Halelamien, Dr. Korkiat Kengsakul, Yongyut Knattongcome, Kulnadda Nedtranon, Prapasri Phadungpund, Rosie Saidon, Lynn Scrimshaw, Boon Tirasitipol, and Dr. Vichate Ungvichien.

On January 14, 2007, there was a board of directors meeting at Panya Thai Restaurant to elect new officers for 2007. The result of the election is as follows: President: Khanya Moolsiri, Vice Presidents: Dr.Vichate Ungvichien, Boon Tirasitipol, Verapong Halelamian and Preeya Sirna, Secretary: Rosie Saidon Treasurer: Kulnadda Nedtranon. Asian Culture Festival‘s chairperson: Khanya Moolsiri.

Asian Culture Festival/ Saturday & Sunday March 3 & 4, 2007: The TAA, the Miami-Dade County Asian-American Advisory Board and the Fruit and Spice Park have organized an annual Asian Culture Festival on March 3 & 4, 2007 at the Fruit and Spice Park located at 24801 S.W. 187th Avenue, Homestead, FL 33031.

Admission is $6.00 per person, children under 12 are free. General vendor cost $100.70, food vendor cost $ 267.50, and educational booth cost $ 1.07, these figures included 7% sale tax for Miami-Dade county. The festival is open from 10:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. each day and the parking is free.

of this year’s Asian government offices who will also participate are Israel, Japan and Taiwan. There will be Asian arts & crafts; Asian folk & classical music and dance; Asian food, dessert & drink and Asian sports, Sepak Trakraw tournament (no hands volleyball). Some of the highlight for these are: an exhibition, demonstration and class teaching of the Ikebana, Pakistan wedding ceremony, Mauy Thai boxing demostration, Bangladesh/India dress fashion show; Thai, Indian Bangladesh and Philipines’s folk and classical dance; Taiko Drumming, Puppet show, Thai Traditional massage and Thai fruit and vegetable carving display and demonstration.
Singha Beer is the sponsor of the Sepak Trakraw Tournament, beside the trophies, the cash prizes are: 1st winning team gets $1,000.00, 2nd team gets $500 and 3rd team gets $250. All players who participant in the tournament will get Singha T-shirts.

Songkran Day Celebration/ Sunday April 15, 2007: The traditional Thai New Year or Water Festival will be held at Wat Buddharangsi from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday April 15, 2007. There will be monks chanting in Pali, water ceremony, music & Thai classical dances and games for children. Also, there will be food, arts & crafts, plants and vegetable for sale. สวัสดีปีใหม่ 2007 เนื่องในโอกาสอันดีนี้ทางคณะกรรมการสมาคม ฯ ขออวยพรให้ท่านและ ครอบครัว ประสบแด่ความสุขและความเจริญตลอดปี 2007 และตลอดไป ก่อนอื่นสมาคมไทย-อเมริกันฯ ขอแจ้งผลงาน การได้จัดงานประจำปี 2006 ทั้ง 3 งานซึ่งประสบความสำเร็จอย่างมาก ดังรายละเอียดต่อไปนี้
1.งานเอเซี่ยนเคาเจอร์เฟสติวัล ซึ่งเป็นที่ได้รับการกล่าวขวัญมากจากชาวอเมริกัน และชาวเอเซีย ที่ไปเที่ยวงานนี้ ซึ่งเปิดโอกาสให้พวกเราชาวเอเซียด้วยกันได้มีโอกาสพบปะสังสรรค์กันทำงานร่วมกัน และเผยแพร่ศิลปวัฒนธรรมเอเซียให้ชาวอเมริกันได้รู้จักมากขึ้น การจัดงานเอเซียนเคาเจอร์เฟสติวัลใน ครั้งนี้โดยมี คุณกัญญา มูลศิริ เป็นประธานการจัดงานร่วมกับ ไมอามีเดดเคาตี้ เอเซียนอเมริกันเอดไวส- สารีบอร์ด และฟรูตแอนสไพส์พาร์ค มีผู้เข้าชมงานประมาณ 10,000 คน
2.งานสงกรานต์กลางคืน โดยมีประธาน 3 ท่านคือ คุณ สุพรรณี สุขารมย์ (แดง) ร้านอาหารทับทิม คุณวนิดา อินทรสุระ (ตุ๊กตา) ร้านอาหารทูไบซาร์ และ คุณนิตยา อนุภาพพันธ์ (นิด) ร้านอาหารคิงแอนด์ไอ เป็นประธาน การจัดงาน ได้นำนักรัองชื่อดังจากเมืองไทยคือ คุณไก่-พรรณิภา และคุณสรชัย รุ่งศิริชัย มาขับกล่อมร้อง เพลงตลอดงาน
3.งานลอยกระทง โดยมีคณปรียา เซอร์นา เป็นประธานจัดงาน และมีคุณชฎาวรรณ ฟอน ซินเนอร์ เป็นผู้จัดแฟชั่นโชว์ชุดไทย 30 ชุด โชว์ในงานเป็นที่ตื่นตาตื่นใจให้กับทุก ๆ คน ที่ไปร่วมงาน และรายการประกวด นางงามสีม่วงเป็นที่สนุนสนานมาก ทางคณะกรรมการสมาคมไทย-อเมริกันฯ ขอขอบคุณประธานการจัดงาน กรรมการ และอาสาสมัครทุก ๆ ท่านมา ณ โอกาสนี้ ที่ได้ร่วมกันจัดงานได้ประสบความสำเร็จอย่างดีมาก และมีรายได้ร่วมถวายวัดพุทธรังษี ไมอามี เพื่อเสริมสร้างและทำนุบำรุงพุทธศาสนาต่อไป

ปีนี้เป็นครั้งแรกจะมีนิทรรศการโชว์ดอกไม้จัดแบบญี่ปุ่นทั้ง 2 วัน แสดงวิธีจัดและสอนวิธีจัดดอกไม้ แบบญี่ปุ่น ในงานนี้วันละ 2 ครั้ง คือเวลา 13.00 น. และ 15.00 น. โดยครูผู้สอนชาวญี่ปุ่นที่มีประสบการณ์ด้านนี้ มากว่า 50 ปี ชื่อ คุณมีอิโกะ คูโบต้า และครูอื่นๆ อีก 3 ท่าน นอกเหนือจากแสดงนาฎศิลป์ไทย อินเดีย ฟิลิปปินส์ และบังคลาเทศ แล้วยังมีการแสดงกายกรรมจีนจากประเทศจีน ตีกล้องญี่ปุ่น แฟชั่วโชว์ชุดอินเดีย โชว์พิธีแด่งงานของชาวปากีสถาน และใชว์เชิดหุ่นกระบอกจากประเทศอิหร่าน เป็นต้น
เทศกาลงานสงกรานต์กลางวัน / วันอาทิตย์ที่ 15 เมษายน 2550 จัดที่วัดพุทธรังษี ไมอามี่ ตั้งแต่เวลา
10.00-16.00น. จะมีการถวายภัตตาหารเพล ฟังพระธรรมเทศนา เล่นน้ำสงกรานต์ และเกมต่างๆ สำหรับเด็ก นอกจากนั้นยังมีสินค้าไทย ๆ พืชผัก และผลไม้ ขายในงานด้วย และมีการแสดงดนตรีบนเวที

Our community has many events and activities scheduled for November, December and the near future as follows:
1. Loy Krathong Day Festival / Sunday November 19, 2006: Wat Buddharangsi of Miami is going to hold its annual Loy Krathong Day Festival at the temple 15200 SW 240th Street, Miami, FL 33032 on Sunday November 19, 2006 from 10:30 a.m. to 02:30 p.m. There will also be a "Krathong" contest for a special prize. 2. Loy Krathong Night Festival / Thursday November 23, 2006: The Thai-American Association of South Florida is going to hold its annual Loy Krathong Festival on Thursday Thanksgiving Day November 23, 2006 from 7:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at the Milander Auditorium, 4800 Palm Avenue, Hialeah, FL 33012. (Flyer is enclosed).
The three main goals of this festival is first, to maintain and celebrate the Thai culture of Loy Krathong Festival; second, to raise money for Wat Buddharangsi of Miami, a Buddhist temple which has just completed construction and still owes about $310,000 to the bank; and last but not least is to promote the development and advancement of Thai-American relations in Florida.
At the festival, there will be Thai classical dances,Thai native costumes show, dance along with a popular DJ, famous Thai singers and a young Thai pop singe. Also a Miss Drag Queen pageant. Delicious Thai cuisine, desserts and drinks will also be sold. There will selling rraffle tickets for a grand prize of $2,500.00 cash or two round trip airline tickets for Miami-Bangkok. 3. The Thai Father's Day Celebration - His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's 79th birthday celebration / Sunday December 3, 2006: As we all know December 5th is His Majesty the King's birthday which is also known as the " Thai Father's day". His Majesty the King became King Rama VIIII of the Chakri dynasty on June 9th, 1945. In observance of this important day, Wat Buddharangsi will celebrate His Majesty the King's birthday and the Thai Father's day on Sunday December 3, 2006 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 15200 SW 240th Street, Miami, FL 33032.
This year, we are honored to have Dr. Shyam Kashyap, a renowned spiritual teacher who will teach meditation and phylosophy of mindfulness and right living in English from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. For more information call the the temple at (305) 245-2702 or Khanya Moolsiri at (954) 431-7484.
4. Thai-American Association General Meeting and six Board of Directors election/ Sunday December 3, 2006: As required by the Thai-American Association's by-laws, we will hold an annual General Meeting and election of six Board of Directors for the next 3 years at Wat Buddharangsi 15200 SW 240th St., Miami, FL 33032 at 12:00 p.m.. We would like to thank our out-going board of directors who have served the TAA in the past 3 years. They are Prasit Horakunwetchana, Khanya Moolsiri, Sopa Akasingha Nguyen, Prapapis Pitayalpisut, Nipawan Root and Dr. Yuwadee Wongbundhit. We welcome any paid member to apply for a

We also would like to thank our last two events' chairpersons, Thavorn Phadungpund for organizing the Loy Krathong Festival 2005 and Supunnee Sukarom (Khun Daeng), Vanida Intarasura (Khun Tukta) & Nittaya Williamson (Khun Nid) for organizing the Songkran Festival 2006. Most of all we want to thank all our members who have sent in their membership dues for 2006.
5. The Heart Shrine Relic Tour (An exhibition of ancient and sacred Buddhist relics) / December 9, 10 & 11, 2006: This relic tour has been in Florida three times in the past three years, one time in Orlando and two times in Tamarac. This exhibiton is the first time in Miami at Wat Buddharangsi of Miami, 15200 S.W. 240th Street, Miami, FL 33032. It is open for public for free (donations welcome) from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in all three days, the opening ceremony is on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and closing ceremony is on Monday at 5:00 p.m.
The Relics: The relics are extraordinary pearl-like doposits which are often found in the cremation ashes of Buddhist spiritual masters. Buddhists believe these relics are formed as a result of the spieitual realisations of compassion and wisdom. There are also Buddhist artifacts and a few tooth and bone relics in the collection.
The Benefits of Seeing the Relics: Viewing these sacred relics can inspire us to develop the attitude of loving-kindness within our hearts and minds and by so doing we can naturally contribute to peace in the world.
There will be blessings and meditation / Budhism teaching in English throughout the three days. Among the teachers are Ven. Abbot Phrasiridhammavidhet, Lama Migmar Tseten, Lama Karma Chotso and Gesha Donchog Kyab. For more information please call Shannon Rodriques at (305) 794-5405.
6. New Year's Day / January 1, 2003: It is our Buddhist tradition of offering food to the monks and going to the temple to start the new year right. There will be a new year’s day celebration at Wat Buddharangsi from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. For more information call the temple at (305) 245-2702.
7. Asian Culture Festival / March 3-4, 2007: Again, the Thai-American Association, the Fruit & Spice Park and Miami-Dade County Asian-American Advisory Board together are organizing the festival to promote and educate the general public of Asian Culture. Last year we had about 10,000 people that came to the festival. We would like our members to know the schedule in advance, so that you can plan to participate in selling Thai & Asian food, handicrafts, vegetables and plants, etc. For more information, please call the park at (305) 247-5727, or Khanya (954) 431-7484.

๓. งานวันพ่อ - งานเฉลิมพระชนมพรรษาพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว วันที่ ๓ ธันวาคม เวลา ๑๐.๓๐ น. ถึง ๑๔.๓๐ น. เนื่องในมหามงคลวโรกาสวันคล้ายวันเฉลิมพระชนมพรรษาของสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว
ภูมิพลอดุลยเดชทรงมีพระชนมายุครบ 79 พรรษาในปี 2549 ซึ่งถือว่าเป็น“วันพ่อ“ด้วย เพื่อเป็นการแสดง ออกซึ่งความจงรักภักดี โดยการบำเพ็ญบุญน้อมถวายเป็นพระราชกุศลแด่สมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวซึ่งเป็นที่รักยิ่ง ของเรา สมาชิกวัดพุทธรังษีและสมาคมไทย-อเมริกันได้กำหนดจัดกิจกรรมพิเศษเนื่องในโอกาสสำคัญนี้ จึงขอ เรียนเชิญท่านสมาชิกร่วมปฏิบัติธรรมบำเพ็ญบุญบารมีเพื่อร่วมแผ่เป็นกระแสบุญน้อมถวาย เป็นพระราชกุศลแด่ พระองค์ท่าน
ปีนี้โอกาสดีของเรา มีรายการพิเศษได้รับเกียรติจากนักสอนวิปันสนาและสอนการดำรงต์ชีวิต
ให้สงบสุขชื่อดัง ดร. ไชม แคสแยบ สอนที่วัดพุทธรังษีในวันพ่อเป็นภาษาอังกฤษเวลา ๑๓.๐๐ ถึง ๑๔.๓๐น. จึง ขอเชิญชวนให้ท่านบอกครอบครัวและเพื่อนฟูงที่ฟังภาษาอังกฤษได้มาเข้าฟังการสอนของดร.ไชม แคสแยบ จะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อผู้ฟังยิ่ง
๔. ประชุมสมาชิกประจำปีของสมาคมไทย-อเมริกันฯและเลือกตั้งกรรมการอำนวยการ ประจำวาระปี 2007-2009 วันที่ ๓ ธันวาคม เวลา ๑๒.๐๐ น.
จะมีการประชุมสมาชิกประจำปีของสมาคมฯและมีการเลือกตั้งกรรมการอำนวยการ 6 ท่านประจำวาระ 2007-2009 ในวันอาทิตย์ที่ 8 ธันวาคม เวลา 12.00 น. ที่วัดพุทธรังษี ไมอะมี่ กรรมการอำนวยการ 6 ท่านที่ครบวาระในปีนี้ได้แก่ คุณประสิทธิ์ โหรคุณเวชนะ คุณกัญญา มูลศิริ คุณโสภา เอกสิงห์ หงูเย็น คุณประภาพิศ พิทยะพิสุทธ์ คุณนิภาวรรณ รูต และดร. ยุวดี วงศ์บันดิษฐ์ ศัตติยา สมาคมฯ ขอขอบคุณกรรม การทุกๆท่านมาณโอกาสนี้
สมาคมฯขอขอบคุณประธานจัดงานสองงานที่พึ่งผ่านมา ณ โอกาสนี้ด้วยได้แก่ ประธานจัดงานลอย กระทงประจำปี 2005 คุณถาวร ผดุงพันธ์ และประธานจัดงานสงกรานต์ 2006 ได้แก่คุณสุพรรณี สุขารมย์ คุณวนิดา สุขารมย์ และคุณนิตยา อนุภาพพันธ์ สมาคมฯขอขอบคุณเป็นพิเศษแด่ท่านสมาชิกทุกๆ ทีได้ส่งเงิน ค่าสมาชิก ประจำปี 2006 มาแล้ว สมาคมฯต้องการให้ทุกๆท่านมีโอกาสร่วมบริหารสมาคมฯให้เป็น ไปตามแนวทางเพื่อ ผลประโยชน์ต่อส่วนรวมให้มากที่สุด จึงขอเชิญชวนท่านไปร่วมประชุมและใช้สิทธิเลือก กรรมการสมาคมฯ ใน วันอาทิตย์ที่ 3 ธันวาคม สำหรับท่านที่สนใจเป็นกรรมการอำนวยการ และ/หรือกรรมการ บริหารสมาคมฯ กรุณาแจ้งความจำนงได้ที่ คุณกัญญา มูลศิริ เบอร์ (954) 431-7484
๕. นิทรรศการสักการะบูชาพระบรมสารีริกธาตู วันที่ ๙, ๑๐ & ๑๑ ธันวาคม ๒๕๔๙
พระบรมสารีริกธาตุชุดนี้มาจากการสะสมเก็บรักษาดูแลโดยพระรามาโซพาริมโพเซ พระทิเบตผู้จัดการดูแล การก่อสร้าง “แมทรายาโปรเจ็ก” สถานที่ที่จะบรรจุเก็บพรบรมสารีริกธาตุชุดนี้อย่างถาวรในอนาคต พระบรมสา รีริกธาตุชุดนี้ได้นำไปนิทรรศการทั่วโลกแล้ว ได้เคยไปนิทรรศการที่ประเทศไทยด้วย ได้นำมานิทรรศการที่ฟลอ ริด้าแล้ว ๓ ครั้ง ที่วัดฟลอริด้าธรรมราม เมืองโอแรนโด ๑ ครั้งและ ที่วัดจีนที่เมืองทามแร๊ก ๒ ครั้ง ที่เมืองไมอะมี่ ครั้งนี้เป็นครั้งแรก ณ ที่วัดพุทธรังษี เวลา ๑๐.๐๐ น. ถึง ๑๗.๐๐ น. มีพิธีเปิดวันเสาร์ที่ ๙ เวลา ๑๐.๐๐ น. และพิธี ปิดวันจันทร์ที่ ๑๑ เวลา ๑๗.๐๐ น. จึงขอเชิญชวนทุกๆท่านมาสักการะบูชา เพื่อความเป็นศิริมงคล และประ โยชน์ต่อตัวท่านและครอบครัว

๖. งานทำบุญวันขึ้นปีใหม่ ณ วัดพุทธรังษี วันที่ ๑ มกราคม ๒๕๔๙ วัดพุทธรังษีจะมีการจัดงาน เจริญชัยมงคลคาถาต้อนรับปีใหม่และทำบุญวันขึ้นปีใหม่ที่วัดพุทธรังษีไมอะมีในวันที่ 1 มกราคม เวลา 10.30 น. ถึง 14.00 น. จึงขอเรียนเชิญชวนทุกๆท่านไปร่วมทำบุญตามวันและ เวลาดังกล่าวโดยพร้อมเพรียงกัน
๗. Asian Culture Festival / วันที่ 3-4 มีนาคม 2549
สมาคมไทยฯ, Fruit & Spice Park และ Miami -Dade County Asian-American Advisory Board ร่วมกันจัดงาน Asian Culture Festival ที่ Fruit & Spice Park 24801 SW 187th Ave., Homestead, FL เพื่อเผยแพร่วัฒนธรรมไทยและเอเซีย จึงเรียนมาให้ท่าน สมาชิกทราบแต่เนิ่นๆ เพื่อท่านจะได้มีโอกาสเตรียมตัวได้ล่วงหน้าในการเข้าร่วมขายของในงานนี้ เช่นขายอาหาร ขายของชำร่วย และขายผัก-ผลไม้และต้นไม้เป็นต้น รายละเอียดเพิ่มเติมติดต่อได้ที่ Fruit & Spice Park โทรศัพท์ 305-247-5727 หรือที่ คุณกัญญา มูลศิริ โทรศัพท์ 954-431-7484
